MoS for External Affairs, M. J. Akbar visits UAE

H.E. Mr. M.J. Akbar, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, visited UAE from 18-20 October 2016. He had important bilateral meetings with HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and H.E. Mr. Mohammed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence of UAE on 20th October.

During his meeting with UAE Foreign Minister, both sides discussed bilateral issues and ways to promote these. They also discussed preparation for the grand success of the forthcoming visit of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to India in January 2017. During his meeting with HE Mr. Mohammed Al Bawardi, both sides discussed ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation in the defence sector. HE Mr. M.J. Akbar also participated in the India-UAE Economic Forum and  met prominent CEOs to discuss regarding promotion of bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. Together with HE Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road, Transport, Highways and Shipping, he met senior officials in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority to discuss investment opportunities in India.

During his address at the India-UAE Economic Forum, he highlighted that the developmental agenda adopted by the visionary leaders of UAE in the 20th Century must be utilised by India and UAE together to achieve a greater success story of the 21st century.  He explained in detail the avenues available for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India in various sectors.  The Minister explained the transparent process of the present government and the speed with which the business proposals are facilitated by the Government.

He also interacted with the Indian Community at India Club, Dubai.
