Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs of the Government of India is launching a 'Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children' (SPDC) for the children of People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for admission in higher and technical institutions in India for the academic year 2006-2007. The SPDC is applicable for undergraduate programmes for Professional and General Courses (except Medical and other related courses) and the assistance provided includes financial assistance towards tuition fee, admission in select institutions and courses, post admission services, etc.
Candidates seeking the scholarship must be a PIO/NRI and should be of 17-21 years age as on October 1, 2006, i.e., only candidates born on or after October 1, 1985 and before October 1, 1989 are eligible. The offer of scholarship will be on the basis of merit in the entrance test conducted by M/S Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed. CIL). Entrance tests will be conducted on 7th May 2006 and the results declared by the last week of May 2006.
