Visit of Hon’ble Mr. Kamal Nath, Indian Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India to Dubai, on 23-24 April, 2008

Mr. Kamal Nath, the Indian Commerce and Industry Minister will be visiting Dubai on April 23-24, 2008.

The Minister will call on H.E. Mr. Sultan Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy, Government of the UAE, and meet prominent Emirati business leaders, including H.E. Mr. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman Emirates NBD; H.E. Mr. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman, Dubai Ports World Group, and a delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by H.E. Mr. Hisham Al Shirawi, Vice Chairman, and including H.E. Mr. Hamad Buamin, Director General.

Mr. Kamal Nath will address business leaders at an event hosted jointly by Mr. Talmiz Ahmad, Ambassador of India, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce (DCCI) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on April 24 on: “India and the Gulf – New Engagements for the 21st Century”. Earlier, on the same day, he will address the Emirates Bankers’ Forum at a luncheon meeting on: “Indian Economy and Business Prospects for the future”. The Minister will also interact with members of the Indian Business and Professional Council, Dubai, to discuss business opportunities in India.

The visit of the Commerce and Industry Minister is expected to strengthen relations between India and United Arab Emirates in the field of business and industry and stimulate greater investments and joint ventures. The Minister will inform the leadership of UAE of the recent achievements of the Indian economy and use the visit to enhance India’s contacts with leaders of the Government as well as business.
