MOU signed between UAE University & Atul LTD, India

Atul Ltd, one of India’s leading Specialty Chemicals Company with focus on Environment Care and UAE University, have signed a MOU for Strategic Partnership for Transfer of Technology for setting up state-of-the-art Date Palm Tissue Culture Production Unit.
This historic MOU was signed by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Al-Khanbashi, Vice Chancellor, United Arab Emirates University and Mr Sunil S Lalbhai, Chairman and Managing Director, Atul Ltd, India at the oasis city of Al-Ain in presence of His Highness, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAE and His Excellency Mr Talmiz Ahmad, Ambassador of India to UAE.
This event was held after the inauguration of The Third International Date Palm Exhibition by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan today. Dignitaries from more than 30 countries graced this auspicious occasion.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and His Excellency, Mr Talmiz Ahmad have played a key role to facilitate this step forward in sharing of knowledge on tissue culture of ‘The Blessed Tree’. This MOU will go a long way in further strengthening the long & close relationship between the people of UAE and India.
UAE University has developed and mastered the technology of production of date palm plants through organogenesis tissue culture technique. Atul Ltd has been importing tens of thousands of tissue cultured date palm plants from UAE for plantation in India. Transfer of this technology will help Atul Ltd and its affiliates to set up a state-of-art Tissue Culture Date Palm Production Unit to enable produce various varieties of date palm in India for the Indian farmers at optimum cost. This will in turn help to increase rural employment, empowerment of women and improving ecology in arid regions of north-west India.
