Ambassador’s speech at the credential ceremony is enclosed.

REMARKS AT CREDENTIALS CEREMONY

Your Highness, I want to start by expressing our heartfelt condolences for the terrible tragedy that struck our Emirati friends and colleagues in Kandahar yesterday. The Government and people of India stand with the United Arab Emirates in our shared resolve to fight the menace of terrorism and to expose the nefarious designs of those who promote cross-border terrorism. On the same day, there was an attack on the parliament in Kabul which has been built by India and is a symbol of India’s support for Afganistan.

Your Highness, it is a matter of great privilege and honour for me to be appointed as Ambassador of India to UAE. Our countries share deep rooted historical, cultural, economic and people to people ties that go back many centuries.

In the last few years our bilateral partnership has been strengthened even further by the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in August, 2015 and by the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in February 2016. The government and people now eagerly await His Highness the Crown Prince as the Chief Guest on the occasion of the 68th Republic Day of India. This visit will mark the start of our comprehensive strategic partnership and open new avenues of cooperation in multiple sectors. Our collaboration in space research programs will show that not even the sky is the limit for this relationship.

Your Highness, India and UAE are havens of stability in an increasingly volatile environment. We enjoy shared values and ideals of global peace, security, stability and prosperity. UAE is also the second home to over 2.6 million Indians and I take this opportunity to thank Your Highness as well as the Government of UAE for your leadership, vision and generosity.

Your Highness, on behalf of the Government and people of India let me convey greetings to the Government and people of UAE. I am confident that the coming year will be a real milestone in our relationship. It is truly a privilege to be appointed India’s ambassador to this great country at such a historic juncture.

Thank you!
